Amber has been at the forefront of developing new strategies for engaging the immigrant residents in the area, who our city government so often fails to reach. She aims to make sure that immigrants in Southern Brooklyn have the best access to immigration related resources and more.
Amber will also focus on crafting new strategies for disseminating information to people unaware of the local resources. Additionally, she will work toward breaking language barriers by accommodating residents with information in their native language.
In 2018, as the Chair of Neighborhood Advisory Board 15, Amber conducted local data collection events to give insight into the specific needs of the area. She succeeded in securing Urdu, Spanish, Yiddish, Russian and Chinese data collection forms and utilizing them to connect with people in their native language. This was the first time that the Urdu speaking community of Southern Brooklyn had been represented in this type of need based data collection.
