Hate Crimes

Amber Adler is a fixture in the fight against hate and bigotry. She has worked in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes (2019/2020) and received a proclamation from the New York State Assembly for her continued efforts in combating “hate, bigotry and racism”.

Amber’s efforts have included publicly denouncing individual and generalized hate crimes along with rallying for awareness. She has also protested against specific attackers and called for justice, such as in the case of the anti-Asian Hammer attack at Seaport Buffet on Emmons Avenue. Furthermore, she has pushed back against divisive rhetoric and continues to promote preventative measures such as combating hate with educational curriculum.

Once elected, Amber would like to focus on prevention. One way she would do this is by allocating discretionary funding to support community organizations which aim to bring together people from diverse backgrounds to work on solving a shared problem and/or achieving a shared goal. She would also like to support additional educational programing for grades 6-12, which combats hate and bigotry.
